I think we're here in these lives for the sole purpose of becoming better.  Better humans, better people.  And in order to do this, we have to grow and change.  This is my mission.  It always has been.  This blog is the story of my efforts.  The ways in which I'm trying to change and the growing pains I encounter along the way.

I've got a lot of work to do.  I, like so many of us, have been raised in a world decayed by capitalism, power over, institutional racism, shame culture, spiritual starvation, misogyny, body objectification, celebrity worship, and a growing tide of hatred and vitriol so powerful that it seems larger and larger swaths of the population are being swept up in it.

I believe that the cures to these poisons are conscious, intentional actions.  Humanism, power with, anti-racism, whole-hearted living, vulnerability and shame resilience, spiritual practice, equality, normalizing, common humanity, and the most important thing: compassion.

I don't really care if anybody reads it.  I'm writing it for me.  Trying to predict what someone might want to read would change what I put down, and that would totally defeat the purpose of this as something that serves my own growth.  So I may be sending this out into the ether without an echo, and that's fine.

But just in case my story might help someone else in any small way, I'm putting it out there.  I'm owning my shit so others can recognize and directly handle theirs.  Because staying quiet, withdrawing from all these incredibly difficult and fucked up issues- well, that's exactly how we got into this mess in the first place.

Thank you for your comment! I will love it and hug it and pet it and call it George. Or, you know, just read and reply to it. But still- you rock!
