It was the perfect day. The sun was shining, but not oppressively. There was a slight breeze in the air making every single breath refreshing. The birds in the trees around her were serenading her with their chatter. But best of all, there was no one else around.
It seemed like a blip in reality at first- the park was never empty this time of the day. Everyone wanted to get their morning run in before heading off to wherever their busy lives were taking them. Normally she had to dodge and weave as she made her way along the path. She relied on her ear buds to block out the world so she could keep moving.
But today was a miracle. A gift all for her. The park, the sounds, the light, the touch of the wind on her skin. A perfect moment in time where there was nothing but her and the path.
She closed her eyes and whispered “thank you” to whatever powers had blessed the day, then exhaled and ran on.
Nice entry. Are you doing AtoZ? Good luck with the challenge if so!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it great when we can appreciate it something all to ourselves and not have to share it although sometimes it does feel a bit surreal. Lovely picture.
ReplyDeleteThis is how I feel while shopping early in the morning before the masses arrive to clutter the aisles! :) Happy P day!

I can relate to your character ... I like to run and love it when it's peaceful out. Nicely done.

I love the solitude in this piece... soothing and therapeutic... only the runner and the universe exist at that particular moment...
