The Bashan Agenda Release Day, Celebrate the Small Things, I won Spooktoberfest and NaNo!

Today is the release of Melanie Schulz's new book, The Bashan Agenda!  Follow the links below to find it and Melanie on the web!
The Newstead Trilogy is one story in three parts, The Bashan Agenda, part two, picks up right where The Newstead Project left off. Nathan's truck eventually stops in the small town of Wilson, NY, and Rachel's still in it, not that she wants to be. But she figures at least in Wilson she'll be able to have a fresh start. She forgot one thing: they can be anywhere. As Joel trains with his father, doubts begin to rise in his mind. Is he really who he claims to be- and more importantly does he have an agenda all his own? When the maps to Bashan come out, Joel realizes maybe it's not such a good idea to be putting so much trust in one man.

The Bashan Agenda is available on:

And today is Friday, which must mean it's time to Celebrate the Small Things with Viklit!

Today I'm celebrating:

I won Spooktoberfest!!!  Jackie at Bouquet of Books picked my story 10:27pm as the winner for October's Spooktoberfest flash fiction contest!  Woo-hoo!!!!  Go here to see who she picked as runner -ups and here to see Dani's choice for winner and runner-ups!

Halloween  I carved a jack-o-lantern, dressed my poor, pathetic little dog in a costume which he absolutely hated and made him dance to spooky Halloween music with me, put on a costume and handed out candy to the trick-or-treaters (my favorite costume of the night?  One of the dads was dressed up as Napoleon Dynamite- a white "Vote for Pedro" t-shirt complete with curly red wig!) and made mummy chicken fingers for dinner.  After the door bell stopped ringing Dave and I settled down to watch a horror movie: Halloween (the original).  It was a GREAT night and I'm SO grateful for that!

NaNoWriMo  It starts today!  Which means that before the end of the day I have to write 1,667 words!  (Hopefully more since you always want to be ahead, but at least 1,667.)
There's something so thrilling about the first day- the blank page in front of you, an entire world of possibility, the collective energy of hundreds of thousands of writers just like you pouring their hearts and souls out- it's pure magic.  Plus, and maybe this is just me, but there's something so unthreatening about going from 0 to 1,667 words.  1,667 is not a lot- it's a bit longer than a Friday Flash, that's it!  Without the rest of the novel there it seems significantly more doable than hitting count seems on other days later in the month.  So yay for not being intimidated on day one!

Wish me luck on my NaNo journey, say 'hi!' if you're writing with me, stop by Vik's to Celebrate and make sure to sign up for a chance to win Melanie's new book!  Happy Friday, all!

  2. Congrats on your win, Beverly! And I totally agree about the first day of NaNo. I usually try for twice the word count that first day just to get a little ahead. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. :)

We watched THE CONJURING last night - scary stuff! :)
