Celebrate the Small Things- Friday the 13th!

It's that time again!  Time to Celebrate the Small Things with Viklit.  Make sure you stop on by to say "hi!" and thank her for hosting this shindig!

This week, I'm celebrating:

The Best Unsuccessful Job Interview I've Ever Had  I appreciate that this may sound a little confusing- how can an unsuccessful job interview be 'the best'?  Well, when you go into it knowing (or at least being pretty certain) that you don't want the job but are simply trying to make a connection with someone in the company you end up with a lot more leg room than normal.  I was far less nervous than I have been in the past when interviewing for jobs that I really wanted or needed, so I was able to talk myself up without fear of sounding like a suck-up.  And when it came out that no, this was definitely NOT a job I wanted, we actually got to discuss other potential positions for me.  And that, my friends, is a serious win!  They say the key to finding that perfect job is making in-roads and I really think I made one this week.  So yeah- celebration time!

Halloween Is Coming  I am a bit of a nut when it comes to the scariest holiday and, when not making conscious efforts to curtail this, can go a bit overboard.  Well, I fell off the wagon this week.  I spent hours- literally, hours- looking online at decorations, activities, costumes, goodies to make and scary things to do.  My Amazon cart is filled with decorations that I so don't need but seriously want and i've clicked through more "look inside!" book previews than I can count.  I've booked activities for one weekend in October and am quickly filing out the rest in my mind with pre-requisite apple picking and haunted house visits.  And I'm indulging in a whole lot of daydreaming.  Yeah, I'm a bit obsessed.  But it's SO much fun!
What are you all celebrating this wekk?  Time to hop around and find out!

  2. Well done on that job interview!

My favorite part of Halloween is all the scary movies I plan to watch. Of course, I do that throughout the year so.... :)

  3. Love the positive look at the networking you were able to do during an interview for a job you didn't even want! Wow, never would have considered that as a way to get in the front door. I sure hope it works out the way you want it, but regardless, what an awesome take on an opportunity!

Oh yeah, Halloween - I'm still in the middle of edits, but it's in the back of my mind and I'm ready to decorate too!

  4. Wow, that job interview sounds pretty decent actually. I hope you find something you love. :)

I have a scary movie marathon one weekend very year. Last year it was Scream. I kind of want to do that again, but I haven't watched the Chucky movies in a while. Hmm...decisions...and there's always a vampire movie marathon, also long overdo. Wish I could find a compilation of the Simpsons Halloween Specials and watch them. Lol!

  10. Glad you made a good connection at that company! :)

As for Halloween, what's your costume this year? I love fall decorations--it stays hot here for so long, putting up pumpkins and pretty leaves makes me feel like the season has started, even if the weather isn't cooperating.

  13. It sounds like, to me, that you're trying to get me hooked on Halloween this year. :) I love Halloween, but the last few years, I've been more tame. Maybe, if I'm able, I'll go way out this year! hehehehe.

And congrats on your potential perfect job contact! Writer’s Mark
