This week I'm celebrating:
Writers Every time I participate in IWSG I am overwhelmed- really, absolutely floored- by the support, generosity, encouragement and floods of heart-felt TLC I receive from other writers. This community just astounds me and every time I get reminded- nay, smacked upside the head repeatedly with the realization- that these genuinely caring people are out there fighting the good fight against their own internal critics it gives me strength to keep fighting mine. You guys take my breath away and I am so, so grateful for you.
Blog Tours This coming Monday (September 9th, for those of you who like calendars) I will be hosting Yolanda Renee as she tours the intarwebs in support of her book Murder, Madness & Love. She will be talking about why conflict is vital to a good story and giving us some insight into how she created the conflict in her story. For those of you who don't know Yolanda let me just tell you that she is one of the nicest, most fun and most supportive ladies I've met and I have no doubt that I will have a ball hosting her and that we'll all learn a lot from reading her post.
Pumpkin I know it's just marketing but I totally fall for it. I stopped and got myself a pumpkin muffin on the way to work yesterday cause I love those things so damned much. I love that they're selling pumpkin doughnuts, sticky rolls and cakes in the bakery now. And I love that pumpkins themselves are starting to line the entrances to a lot of stores I pass by.
I start bitching when they bust out the Christmas decorations in the beginning of October but when they start out with the hints of Halloween at the beginning of September I'm all for it. Why? Because Halloween is my favorite holiday EVER! Plus, we gotta get a move on if we're gonna have some fun before the blob (as in it eats everything in its path) of Christmas gets here!
Did you guys all participate in IWSG? (If you did and I didn't stop by please leave me a comment so I can fix that!) Are you coming by Monday to read all of Yolanda's insights on conflict? What do think of the pumpkin craze? Let me know, your comments make my day!
Now, as always, hop along!

Bev, you are too kind. Thank you! I do love seeing my cover, even though spiders aren't my thing - does sort of fit with the season!
ReplyDeleteI love pumpkin - just about anything, but on Thanksgiving - can only eat one piece of pie, but pumpkin bread, cupcakes, muffins - just about anything - Yum!
And I love, love, love Halloween! I know how you feel about the Christmas stuff coming too soon, but as long as they wait till Halloween is over - no problem. But it is odd to see the two together! My son brought his coffin back (he moved in with a girlfriend, oh and, the coffin was a restaurant prop (western BBQ thing) and he got it when they went out of business. I'm thinking of sitting it on the front porch with body in it. Time to get decorating!
A ful-sized coffin? Bad ass! I would be on that thing like white on rice.
DeleteEveryone celebrated two years of IWSG in an awesome fashion this week. Yes, it blew me away. Every month, it gets better.
ReplyDeleteStores have already put out their Halloween candy here. I brought home a bag of candy pumpkins yesterday and I think it made my wife's night.
You are the most awesome thing ever, Alex!
DeleteThat would totally make my night, too. ^_^
My kind of pumpkin is the Reese's chocolate peanut butter kind. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday!
Mmmmm... Reese's pumpkins.... *drools*
DeleteIt was a great IWSG, like you I am always amazed at the wonderful support out there. Long may it continue.
ReplyDeleteHear, hear!
DeleteI just got a big can of pumpkin puree yesterday to make pumpkin scones with :-). I have a recipe for low-sugar pumpkin cheesecake somewhere too if you're interested. To me pumpkins go with Autumn Equinox and Hallowe'en both, so let the pumpkining begin!
ReplyDeleteI'm just remembering I had a suggestion for a blog hop topic, and now I can't remember what it was :-P. I'm hoping writing it down will help.
Ooo- pumpkin scones? Sounds delish! I drag my poor hubby apple picking every year and make apple pies throughout the fall months.
DeleteI love pumpkin stuff! The biggest reason is because it means fall's approaching and the weather is cooling off. Yay! I've succumbed already as well. Lol! I love the Pumpkin Spice Latte at Starbucks! For some reason though I don't like pumpkin pie. Never touch it.
ReplyDeleteI like Halloween too, I dress up every year, but my favorite holiday is whichever one I get to see my mom's brother on because I only get to see them once a year.
Pumpkin spice latte? Guess what I'm doing this weekend...
DeleteI love Halloween and pumpkin too! I just love this time of the year so much.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to Yolanda's visit, her book is wonderful.
Enjoy your weekend!
Thanks, Julie! And I agree- it's the most wonderful time of the year!
DeleteIt was a great IWSG. I like pumpkin too.
ReplyDeletei <3 pumpkin everthing!
ReplyDeletealready found pumpkin spice creamer for my coffee! fall is my fave season! bring it on!
happy friday!
I agree on everything- pupmkin, fall, bring it on- my thoughts exactly!
DeleteLOL - it is spring time down under, so no pumpkins here. It's amazing the little things I miss from the US.

Yum...pumpkin!
ReplyDeleteI wish I liked pumpkin, but sadly, it makes me gag. I do love all the other trappings of fall though. It's my favorite season! Have a good weekend :)
ReplyDeleteGreat things t be thankful for, and I love all things pumpkin. Yummo! I need to buy a couple cans and get baking. You've got me hankerin' for it now.
ReplyDeleteThe support of fellow artists is so necessary to get us through!
